I am an artist and cultural worker who moved from Toronto to Golden, BC in 2002. Throughout a 50+ year career as a musician, writer, performer and producer, I am truly grateful that my creative efforts are well received and recognized. In 23/24 I am retiring from my Executive & Artistic Director position at Kicking Horse Culture and headed out on tour to theatres with the latest version of my band The Space Heaters. I love to create and I love to coach!
I’ve had a pinball kind of career always becoming excited by the possibilities that were conjured from opportunity, always highly motivated to make a living to feed my family. I’ve had more than my share of successes and a number of failures along the way ... which made those successes even sweeter. I’ve crossed paths too with folks way more talented than I… some who have gone on to great acclaim and wealth and others who were revered by their peers … but just did not get the attention they deserved. I've learned the same can be said somewhat for organizations too…. why do some succeed and sustain and others just can’t get the traction they desire?
I’ve been blessed to have worked in both the private for profit and the public nonprofit side of the cultural industries and worked with hundreds of organizations along the way. My home base then was Toronto. Since 2002, I’ve had the good fortune of making a home in Golden, BC and put my career experiences into practice as first the Board Chair and then the Executive & Artistic Director of Kicking Horse Culture. In my coaching practice I draw upon my first-hand perspectives and the guidance and resources that have mentored me on how nonprofit organizations succeed by building a reputation for dependable, valuable performance. I come to this from the lived experience of being a volunteer director on many Boards and as the professional staff leader responsible for the organization’s achievement.
